South Australian Country Swimming Championships

The highlight for Charlie was gold in the 200m freestyle in the time of 2:16.92 seconds with a 0.48 second PB. Charlie kicked home hard to defeat the 2nd placed swimmer by 1.45 seconds. Other top performances were bronze medals in both the 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley.

Competing against older swimmers in six of his eight races, Charlie could have finished higher in the placings in some events, however the two visitor rule meant that when he finished 3rd in the preliminaries behind interstate swimmers, he couldn’t swim in the final.

Charlie swam an impressive 100m butterfly in his final event, finishing 3rd in the smart time of 1:10.42 second, a huge 2.22 second PB. Charlie said he loved the strong competition, even though he didn't improve on some times, but was very happy with his 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly results.
