Chelsea-Rose Pomfret, 14, from the Alice Springs Swimming Club will be putting her skills to the test over the weekend competing in Darwin. The Casuarina Storm Invitational Swim Meet is the largest in the Territory after the Northern Territory Championships with over 200 competitors.
Competing in a competitive age group, Pomfret is hoping to consolidate her hard training into PB’s. Not one to shy away from hard work, Pomfret will be taking on 8 races in Darwin, including the gruelling 400m freestyle. Pomfret’s other events include: 50m breaststroke and freestyle, 100m breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, 200m IM, breaststroke, freestyle.
Swimming a variety of events, Pomfret is showing good form at local meets having taken over 7 seconds off her backstroke times, a 1.47 seconds improvement in 50m butterfly and 0.29 seconds off her 50m freestyle time, lowering it to 34.00 seconds.
Pomfret, a breaststroke specialist, will be chasing down qualifying times for next year’s Northern Territory Championships, with her ultimate long term goal a national qualifying time.
