Alice Springs Swimmers Lilly Bloomer 13 and JJ Siah 10 have completed their program at the Northern Territory Short Course Championships in Darwin, bringing home 11 medals between them: 4 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze. The girls also finished with an exceptional 85% PB rate against the best swimmers in the Northern Territory.
JJ won seven medals from seven events with 4 gold and 3 silver, culminating in a sensational gold medal swim in the 100m breaststroke final, not only taking 6.79 seconds off her PB, but swimming a faster time than a large number of older competitors. In a clean sweep, JJ won all four of her backstroke and breaststroke events and gave the 100m individual medley a go for the first time finishing second in the impressive time of 1:35.55.
Lilly smashed her times with PB's in every event winning four medals 2 silver and 2 bronze. A breaststroke specialist, Lilly swam an exceptional 50m breaststroke race in the time of 39.89, with a 4.45 PB, finishing 2nd, but with the overall 4th fastest time of the day. Lilly finished an outstanding 3rd in the Open 200m breaststroke final with a 14.57 second PB and fought hard in a tight finish missing bronze by 0.14 seconds in the 100m individual medley.
